Answer: Finger (phalangeal) fracture
What to look for in finger (phalangeal) fracture
- A fracture line through a proximal, middle or distal phalanx.
- Check whether it enters a joint and whether there is displacement or angulation.
- Small avulsion fragments at the volar base of the middle phalanx suggest a volar plate injury; at the dorsal base of the distal phalanx, a bony mallet finger.
