Answer: Patellar dislocation
What to look for in patellar dislocation
- The patella lies lateral to the femoral trochlea instead of within it.
- After reduction, look for an osteochondral fragment or a medial patellar avulsion.
- A tangential (skyline) view shows patellar tracking best.
Description by the image author (may be in another language): Radiograph of lateral luxation of the patella. Left before treatment, right after reduction. Even after reduction, the patella is still displaced to the outside.
